About The Designer:
LA Micksch was born and raised in Wisconsin. She has always had a love of animals from baby birds who fell from a nest, to cats, rabbits and dogs.
When she got her first rat terrier in 1997, she knew she had met the love of her life in Murphy, The Wonder Dog. Darby, aka Queen D, would follow 2 years later and a year after that, Baby Be Sweet, a rescue with some serious baggage. Sadly, Darby passed away in 2010, after having been diagnosed with cancer just three weeks prior.
In 2000, she began her formal fostering carreer. It has never been easy as she specializes in seriously broken dogs who need major surgery to heal them. These dogs are often with her 9-16 months and each one not only leaves a mark on her soul but also "leaves her a better person." Tears come with the job.
In between a full time career with a Fortune 500 health insurance company; keeping up with her dogs; fostering; handling the rescue store and fundraising, she took up beading and now sewing.
"I don't make anything fancy, but each peice is made with love and has the ability to save a dog." She donates a portion of her proceeds to Rat Terrier ResQ.
